On December 19, 2022, Vera N. Kulikova (Honored Arts Worker of the Russian Federation, Associated Professor of the Classical Dance Department), conducted an online lecture and master-class dedicated to Pedagogy of Jumps: Beginner and Intermediate Ages. 15 students of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th classes of the Academy assisted Ms. Kulikova during the master class

This event was a part of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (The Bolshoi Ballet Academy) – 250 Program commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Academy’s foundation.

The Visit Of Japanese Embassy Students And Officials

On December 13, 2022, a group of Japanese students and their tutors from the Embassy of Japan in Moscow visited the Academy.


The guests attended the tour-lecture about the Academy’s history and visited the classical dance classes of the Academy’s teachers Anna A. Antonicheva, Mikhail Y. Sharkov and Liudmila V. Ermakova.

The children and their curators were impressed by the educational and the training processes and also by the performances of the students of I and III courses.

This event continues a long-term friendship and cooperation between the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and the Embassy of Japan in Moscow. In 2022/2023 academic year, the Academy enrolls 25 Japanese students in its secondary education programs.

Martha Graham School Online Masterclass

      On December 13, 2022, Virginie Mecene, Program Director of the Martha Graham School, conducted an online masterclass organized by the Academy’s partner A.S.E. Global Bridges and the Academy. The event was a part of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (The Bolshoi Ballet Academy) – 250 Program commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Academy’s foundation.

      The masterclass was dedicated to the topic: Introduction to Martha Graham Technique, the Foundation of Modern Dance. A group of senior students of the Academy attended the masterclass and tried Martha Graham's dance technique.

Within The Bolshoi Ballet Academy – 250 Program, students and faculty of the BBA attended an online lecture by Virginie Mecene, Program Director of the Martha Graham School, dedicated to Introduction to Martha Graham Technique, the Foundation of Modern Dance.


After more than ten years with the Martha Graham Dance Company, Ms. Mecene, who had become a prima-ballerina, continued on her journey and became a ballet teacher. Virginie Mecene focuses on the support, development and maintenance of integrity of the teaching methodology developed at the Martha Graham Contemporary Dance School. She is involved in the nurturing of performers for ballet companies worldwide, as well as teachers mastering the Graham Methodology.

The Bolshoi Ballet Academy and A.S.E. Global Bridges (former Russian American Foundation) are proud to announce the continuation of their creative collaboration connecting the two institutions for 15 years. Over the said period, Academy and A.S.E. Global Bridges have implemented a variety of educational programs helping thousands of young performers across the world to pursue their careers in ballet.

On November 16, 2022, Vera N. Kulikova (Honored Arts Worker of the Russian Federation, Associated Professor of the Classical Dance Department), addressed her peers from the USA with an online lecture and master-class dedicated to Turns and Pirouettes – Teaching and Training Techniques for Ballet Lessons for Juniors and Middle School Students. The event was a part of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (The Bolshoi Ballet Academy) – 250 Program commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Academy’s foundation. Students of junior and middle classes of the Academy assisted Ms. Kulikova.
